St. Anselm's Prefects

The Prefects are a group of young people (grade 7 and above) at St. Anselm's Parish who strive to live out their Catholic faith through leadership initiatives. Each Prefect promises to not only participate in Sunday mass at St. Anselm's Church, but to take on a leadership role in the community. In concrete terms, the requirement of a Prefect is that he or she coordinates (organizes and runs) one event between September and June that will serve either the parish or the needs of those abroad. Events that Prefects have run include fundraisers, awareness campaigns, social events, and volunteer events.
The Roman Catholic Church has a long and rich history of leaders, thinkers, educators, politicians, and saints. In continuing with our great tradition, the Prefect program seeks to empower Catholic youth to take up the mantle of leader and visionary both in our parish, and in the universal Catholic Church.
The Prefect program runs under the leadership of the Program Director. The past success of the Prefect program is in no small part attributed to the support of a previous pastor of St. Anselm's Church, Msgr. Laurencic, and the Archbishop of Toronto, His Eminence, Cardinal Collins. Both Msgr. Laurencic and Cardinal Collins have provided an enormous amount of support for which the Prefects are indebted to them for.
